Prevention and Fashion at Extra Salute Ancona 2026
From 24 to 30 September 2026, marking the opening of Extra Salute Ancona 2026—the Festival of Well-being hosted at the Mole Vanvitelliana in Ancona—the touring exhibition “Habitus. Clothing as a Tool for Prevention”, promoted by ANLAIDS, will be on display. The exhibition showcases the three winning garments from the national competition launched to mark the association's 40th anniversary.
The project invited designers from across Italy to conceive items of clothing capable of transforming into tools for communication and awareness around HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), using the language of fashion as a vehicle for information, awareness, and inclusion.
Transforming clothing into a powerful social message, using design to promote sexual health prevention, dismantling stereotypes and prejudice, tackling stigma, and fostering a culture of health based on knowledge and shared responsibility: these are the core objectives at the heart of Habitus.
The project bridges the applied arts, fashion, and design with ANLAIDS’s forty-year commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS and associated stigma, building a transmedia bridge between generations and artistic disciplines.
The exhibition's presence at the Mole Vanvitelliana—within the gathering space of the 'The Mole' Bar-Bookshop—fully aligns with the spirit of Extra Salute Ancona 2026, an event centering on health as a collective good, prevention, education, sustainability, and youth leadership. Now in its third edition, the Festival engages institutions, healthcare agencies, schools, universities, charities, and local organizations in an extensive programme dedicated to quality of life and healthy living advocacy.
Particular attention will be devoted to the younger generations through educational pathways, workshop activities, and discussion panels. The Habitus exhibition, curated by Sebastiano Bazzichetto, will serve as an opportunity to reflect on the intersection of creativity, communication, and prevention.
The 2026 edition of Extra Salute further reinforces the One Health approach, which views human, animal, and environmental health as closely interconnected dimensions. Within this framework, Habitus contributes to promoting a vision of health built on information, inclusion, and active civic participation.
The Habitus project is made possible through the unconditional support of Gilead and ViiV Healthcare.
